WHAT IS THE RESOURCE PLACE?
The Resource Place is a website that families of children and youth with special health care needs and providers can use to find services and supports. It was developed in response to families reporting the need for up-to-date, easy to access information about resources, programs, services and supports. The focus is on Massachusetts, but some national resources and resources from other states are also included.
The Resource Place is a project of the MA Department of Public Health (DPH) Division for Children and Youth with Special Health Needs (DCYSHN). DCYSHN is the state’s Title V Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Program.
The Resource Place expands upon the Family TIES of Massachusetts Directory of Resources. For over 20 years, Family TIES of Massachusetts, a project of the Federation for Children with Special Needs, has been gathering and sharing resources to support families. The Family TIES of Massachusetts Directory of Resources continues to be printed annually. A pdf can be accessed at www.massfamilyties.org.
By putting resources into an online format:
- Information can be kept current.
- Families and providers can create customized searches.
- More resources can be included.
WHERE DOES THE INFORMATION COME FROM?
Information comes from:
- Family TIES of Massachusetts
- INDEX and Disabilityinfo.org
- Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Division for Children and Youth with Special Health Needs
In most cases, information is reported by the specific organization or agency providing services.
PLEASE NOTE: Inclusion of resources in The Resource Place does NOT represent an endorsement of any program or provider by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Federation for Children with Special Needs, or the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
WHAT IF I CAN’T FIND WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR?
The Resource Place is a starting point when searching for information and resources. While it is updated regularly and aims to be comprehensive, it is impossible to include everything. There is nothing like talking to a real person! If you can’t find what you’re looking for, need help connecting to services, or have any questions, we encourage you to contact:
